Here is what I’ve learned from my experience of more than 100 interviews and observation of hundreds of stellar candidates: best candidates are almost always better prepared.
Over the last 2 months my team helped 23 people to find dream jobs. Here is what list of essential things they used to prepare in 3-5 hrs before the interview!
Must- do list:
📊 Gaining company knowledge
1a. Check the company latest news or global events. For example, stripe is hosting an annual conference “Stripe Sessions”, Facebook hosts Facebook connect or F8. Use it to learn more about mission and plans or simply search on the website.
1b. Learn the product: app, features, recent launches. Try to learn how does it feels to be a customer.
📑 Describing relevant to the role experience
2a. Practice telling your professional story in 1-2 min
2b. Prepare 3-5 most relevant stories demonstrating the top 3 job requirements
2c. Ask the recruiter to describe to you the interview structure and expected questions, if any
🎎 Learning people and culture
3a. Check out the Linkedin of an interviewer, ideally find common areas of background
3b. Prepare relevant to interviewer current role questions about company and product. Please do not ask questions that you may google, like: “tell me about company culture”

📊Gaining company knowledge
1c. Check out industry trends, key competitiors and innovations. I am using HBR and the economist everviews
1d. List potential improvements for company operations or products that pop up in your mind during company research. I am usually use competitive research and most common reviews in the internet
📑Describing relevant to the role experience
2d. Check GlassDoor and Blind apps for common interview questions, for example search “Amazon PM interview onsite”
2e. Read reviews and complaints (try using App Store, Google play, reviews websites) to find out company and product challenges
🎎 Learning people and culture
3c. Talk with current company employees to determine existing company structure, culture or even daily activities: Use this knowledge on the interview to empower experience
